foodie

lately i've been doing a lot of cooking.

during my undergrad i didn't always take a lot of time to cook, apart from using my french press or stove-top espresso machine i hated to cook, in fact i believe i once described my attitude towards by stating i would rather chew on glass.

that isn't to say that i was inept at cooking, actually i think i'm fairly good at it. baking however, not my forte, which is probably a good thing given my huge sweet tooth.

earlier this year i had my folks over for dinner and tried my hand at risotto (i nearly had a nervous breakdown when i thought i had messed it up... as it turns out its supposed to look like wallpaper paste) at the end of the night my parents and uncle seemed genuinely surprised that the scatterbrain of the family managed not to set fire to the kitchen.

i've been on holiday for a few weeks now and watching a lot of the Food Network.Everyday Italian has become a quick favourite of mine. Sean and I have toyed with a few of her recipies and modified them for ourselves. Delicious!

breakfast

i hate breakfast.

correction, i don't hate all breakfast. in fact one of my favourite meals is diner breakfast the morning after a party however if i ate at a diner every morning my wallet would be empty and i would have the thighs of the mom from what's eating gilbert grape.

i end up drinking tons of coffee, a bagel or cereal and then two hours later i'm starving all over again. i'm finding it difficult to eat a decent breakfast that doesn't leave me snacking on empty carbohydrates for the rest of the day. has anyone tried yogurt/berries/granola? thoughts?
